artwork requirements

For most of your projects, you will provide us with information and artwork. Below are the formats that will yield the best results. If you don't see your format here, or have any questions, please contact us.

Text

Text sent as a computer file is preferred, as it will save the time and expense of us re-entering the text. We can accept almost any major word processing format, though Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) are best.

Digital Image Formats

We can accept the following image formats. These all assume the artwork is at the actual printing size.

  • TIFF (usually 300 to 600 dpi)
  • JPEG (usually 300 to 600 dpi)
  • EPS (NOT from Adobe Photoshop, but from Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand. If there are embedded or imported graphics, we will not be able to edit them.)
  • BMP (usually 300 to 600 dpi)
  • PDF (with no security in the file)

We can also accept files from the following programs (please be sure to include all supporting files—including screen and printer fonts and imported images):

  • Adobe Illustrator (versions CS1 or lower)
  • Adobe InDesign (versions CS1 or lower)
  • Adobe Pagemaker (versions 6 or 6.5)
  • Adobe Photoshop (versions CS1 or lower)
  • Macromedia (Aldus) Freehand (versions 9 or lower)
  • Quark Xpress (versions 4.1 or lower)

We cannot accept Microsoft Powerpoint, Publisher, or Word documents as artwork.

Non-Digital Imagery

We can use:

  • Photographs
  • Slides
  • Camera Ready Artwork (flat black artwork printed/developed on a white paper, and spot-color separated if more than one color)
